ENN Energy Research Institute announced a long-term strategic partnership with the Center for Fusion Science of Southwestern Institute of Physics (SWIP) to accelerate fusion research and development.
This Strategic Partnership intends to deepen our partnership to the benefit of both institutes and expand our cooperation across a broad spectrum of mutual priorities, which covers research collaboration, technology exchanges, talents training and sharing of lab resources. It enables the two institutes to tap into advanced capabilities of each other and as part of this expanded partnership, we may also seek external funding sources together for support of R&D programs.
As the only private company in China that devoted to fusion technology research and development, ENN established ENN Fusion Technology R&D Center in 2018 and has made great progress over the past three years. ENN is building a world first-class fusion energy research platform and supporting laboratories, as well as an international exchange center for fusion technology development.
Affiliated with China National Nuclear Corporation, the Southwestern Institute of Physics (SWIP) was established in 1965, and was China's first nuclear fusion research institute. SWIP has been the core of China's 3-step national strategy of nuclear energy development (thermal reactor, fast reactor, and fusion reactor). It aims at realizing the peaceful use of fusion energy. It has a complete range of disciplines, research platforms and laboratories for fusion energy development. SWIP has also been an important contributor for Chinese participation in ITER construction, by providing key technologies and components for ITER.
